Title IX emphasizes the importance of equal opportunity in admissions and academics in universities receiving federal funding. As a university subject to complying with Title IX, BYU–Hawaii is required to take immediate and appropriate actions in protecting its patrons against various kinds of sexual harassment and assault, including dating violence, domestic violence, stalking, and gender-based discrimination.
