Controlled Substances
All institutions of higher education that receive federal funds must take specific steps to prevent and address drug and alcohol abuse on their campuses among students and employees. Two statutes that stipulate such measures are the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act of 1986 and the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988. Generally, these laws and subsequent amendments require that an institution of higher education adopt and implement a drug prevention program.
Compliance with these acts is demonstrated at Brigham Young University–Hawaii in the implementation and enforcement of the CES Honor Code, the Drug-Free School Policy and the Drug-Free Workplace Policy.
